Recipe Ingredients for butter milk biscuits

3 cups whole wheat flour
3 cups enriched flour
6 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
3 tbls sugar
6 tbls vegetable shortening
3 cups low fat buttermilk

Recipe Directions for butter milk biscuits

  1. Mix flour,baking powder, soda and sugar together.

  2. cut vegetable shortening into flour mixture.

  3. Add buttermilk to flour mixture until blended.

  4. when mixture holds together, turn onto a floured surface and knead lightly.

  5. Roll dough out into 1/2 inch thickness and cut into 2" rounds with a floured cutter.

  6. Place on ungreased baking sheet.

  7. Bake for 10 - 12 minutes at 425 degrees.

  8. Enjoy
