A slighty healthier version that normal. (NOTE: You may cut the brownies into smaller pieces to make each serving less calories.)

Recipe Ingredients for Brownies (Slightly Healthier)

2 1/2 ounces unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup skim milk
1/3 cup water
1 Cooking spray, for baking

Recipe Directions for Brownies (Slightly Healthier)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

  2. Spray a non-stick 8x8 baking dish with cooking spray for baking.

  3. Combine all ingredients is large mixing bowl and blend well.

  4. Pour batter into pan and bake 20 to 30 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

  5. Remove from oven and let cool for five minutes in pan.

  6. Gently remove from pan and place on wire rack to cool completely.

  7. Cut the brownies into nine squares or you may use a two or three inch cookie cutter to make shaped brownies.
