Recipe Ingredients for Brownies, Cooking Light

1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp cocoa powder, dutch processed
1 tbsp warm water
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp instant espresso
2 tbsp butter, unsalted
3 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped fine
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1 egg, lightly beaten

Recipe Directions for Brownies, Cooking Light

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Line 8 inch square metal pan with parchment paper or foil, then lightly coat with vegetable oil spray.

  3. Whisk flour and baking powder together. In a separate bowl, whisk cocoa, water, vanilla, and espresso powder together.

  4. Microwave butter and chocolate together on 50 percent power until melted, about 1 minute. Whisk until smooth. WHisk in sugar and salt. Whisk in cocoa mixture, then whisk in the eg. Stir in the flour mixture until just incorporated.

  5. Bake until test toothpick comes out with a fe moist crumbs, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack, about 1 hour.
