Easy drop cookies from old Betty Crocker cook book. Everyone loves them but not so good for my program. Can't make them often. Too tempting. Better the day after you bake them or right out of the oven.

Recipe Ingredients for Brown Sugar Drops

1 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar packed
2 eggs
1/2 cup 2% milk
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

Recipe Directions for Brown Sugar Drops

  1. put lemon juice in measuring cup and then add milk to 1/2 cup mark.

  2. Mix shortening, brown sugar and eggs thoroughly.

  3. Stir in milk.

  4. Mix dry ingredients together and then stir into already mixed ingredients.

  5. Chill at least 1 hour.

  6. Heat oven to 400 degrees.

  7. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls of dough 2" apart on greased baking sheet.

  8. Bake 8-10 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly with finger.

  9. Makes about 6 dozen. 2 1/2" cookies.

  10. You can also use buttermilk.
