Brown rice can be really dull, but this recipes adds some flavor without much fat. Altered from Melissa d'Arabian's Rice with Caramelized Shallots.

Recipe Ingredients for Brown Rice with Sauted Onions

1 medium onion
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup water
3/4 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon white wine
2 cups uncooked brown rice

Recipe Directions for Brown Rice with Sauted Onions

  1. Saute sliced onion in butter until brown and caramelized.

  2. Add water and stock and bring to boil. Add white wine.

  3. Prepare rice per the package, for ex. rice for 20 minutes or 5 as needed by the rice.
