This quiche is incredibly satisfying and makes a quick and easy, re-heatable breakfast during the week.

Recipe Ingredients for Brocolli Swiss Quiche

1 serving Pie Crusts Deep Dish 9"
4 large Egg, Whole
3 stalk, medium (7-1/2" - 8" long) Broccoli
0.5 tbsp chopped Shallots
2 tbsp Butter
1.25 cup, shredded Swiss Cheese
1 tsp Kosher Salt
1 tsp Pepper, Black
0.5 tsp Nutmeg, Ground
0.67 cup Cream, Fluid, Half And Half
0.33 cup Vitamin D Milk

Recipe Directions for Brocolli Swiss Quiche

  1. Preheat the oven to 325'F.

  2. Wash the brocolli well and let it dry. In the meantime, finely chop the shallots, and grate the swiss cheese. When the brocolli is dry, remove the stalks (or use if you like) and cut the florets apart by continuously cutting away small portions of stalk holding them together.

  3. Melt the 2 Tbsp butter in a large saute pan, or in a pot, over medium heat. Add the shallots and cook until slightly tender, about 2-3 minutes. Then add the brocolli and cook until beginning to become tender, about 8-10 minutes. Stir regularly to prevent sticking or burning. You may need to add a little butter to keep the vegetables cooking without burning. When the vegetables are done, take off the heat and stir to allow some of the heat to escape. Then set aside, allowing it to cool a bit while you prepare the egg filling.

  4. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and half and half together. Add in 1/2 Tsp salt, 1/2 Tsp pepper, and 1/2 Tsp nutmeg. Whisk until smoothe, then stir in the cheese and set aside.

  5. When the vegetables have cooled some, about 5-10 minutes, add them to the egg-cheese mixture and stir to combine.

  6. Take the frozen DEEP DISH pie shell out of the freezer and place it on a baking sheet with at least a small rim (in case the quiche overflows). Add the quiche mixture to the pie shell, then place in the oven.

  7. Bake the quiche gently at 325'F for 45 minutes (check at 30 to see how it is doing), until it is golden on the top.

  8. Remove for the oven and allow it to cool for 20-30 minutes before cutting and storing or serving.

  9. Serve with a slice of bread and some fresh fruit. If it is weekend brunch, a cool glass of Rose or a midly sweet white wine would accompany this well.
