Brisket Carbonade Recipe

Wonderful flavor. Brisket will be firm, but so tender.

Recipe Ingredients for Brisket Carbonade

48 oz Beef, Brisket, Whole
8 oz Beer
1 large Onions
1 oz Beef Bouillon Bouillon Cubes
3 tsp Domino Light Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon Thyme

Recipe Directions for Brisket Carbonade

  1. Score brisket on fatty side. Put in Dutch oven. Pour Beer over meat. Place quartered onion on top, along with the other ingredients. Add 1-2 cups water. Also, add 1 Bay Leaf.

  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 3 to 4 hours, checking at 2 hours to see if has enough liquid.

  3. Remove brisket & onions. Skim broth of any fatty pieces & make gravy by adding ~1/2 cup flour to broth. Bring to a boil, whisking constantly. Slice meat 1/4" thick.
