Recipe Ingredients for Bread Uppittu/Upma

1 serving bread uppittu

Recipe Directions for Bread Uppittu/Upma

  1. 4 cups of shreaded bread

  2. 3 onions chopped finely

  3. 1tsp finely chopped ginger

  4. 4 green chillies,slit and chopped

  5. 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped

  6. 8 curry leaves

  7. 4 tsp oil

  8. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

  9. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  10. 1/4 tsp turmeric

  11. 1/4 tsp asafoetida

  12. salt to taste

  13. Heat oil in a wok. Add mustard and cumin seeds. Once they start sputtering add, greenchillies, ginger, turmeric, curry leaves. Saute for a few seconds and add the onions. Once the onions are cooked, add the shredded bread salt to taste and cover and cook for a while, stirring in between. Once the bread has softened add coriander and serve.
