Don't gasp - 2 tablespoons of butter spread over 10 servings is still very low fat. Just 2 T of butter adds a lot of flavor to this.

4 cups bread, cubes
2 cups nonfat milk
150 grams brown sugar
1/2 cup raisins
2 apples
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 egg whites

  1. 4 cups bread, cubes

  2. 2 cups skim milk, hot

  3. 2/3 cup brown sugar (try SugarTwin Brown)

  4. 1/2 cup raisins

  5. 2 apples, sliced thin

  6. 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  7. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  8. 3 egg whites (Just Whites or Egg Beaters

  9. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  10. 2 Spray 1-1/2 quart baking dish with cooking spray.

  11. 3 Combine bread, raisins and apples in a large bowl.

  12. 4 Add milk and sugar; mix well.

  13. 5 Pour mixture into baking dish.

  14. 6 Let stand for 20 to 30 minute.

  15. 7 Beat egg whites until foamy.

  16. 8 Add vanilla and cinnamon to egg whites, mix well.

  17. 9 Pour egg mixture over bread in baking pan.

  18. 10 Bake uncovered for 45 minutes to 1 hour until set and lightly browned.
