Recipe Ingredients for bread and butter pudding

7 3/4 oz white bread
3 oz sultanas
2 oz margarine
16 fl oz skimmed milk
3 oz brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 medium eggs

Recipe Directions for bread and butter pudding

  1. pre heat the oven to gas mark 4.

  2. place the sultanas in 8 fl oz of hot water and let them soak for 5 minutes.

  3. spread one side of each slice with margarine, then cut the slices in half.put the bread marg side up in an ovenproof dish. drain the sultanas and sprinkle over the top.

  4. heat the milk and sugar until just hot,remove from the heat and stir in the mixed spice or cinnamon.

  5. in a mixing bowl, beat the eggs lightly, then gradually stir the hot milk into the eggs.

  6. pour the mixture over the bread slices. bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is brown and a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean.

  7. serve with custard or cream
