Recipe Ingredients for Bread and Butter Pickles

16 cups cucumbers, thinly sliced
1/2 c. kosher salt
8 cups sliced onions, thinly sliced
4 cups cider vinegar
4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tbsp. Ginger
1 tsp. Turmeric
1 tbsp. celery seed

Recipe Directions for Bread and Butter Pickles

  1. Put the cucumbers, kosher salt and onions in a large container for 2 hours.

  2. In a large pot; add the remaining ingredients.

  3. Bring to a boil, boil 10 minutes. Add cucumbers and onions. Bring to boil again. Pack immediately in sterilized jars. Yield: 8 (12 oz.) jars.
