Recipe Ingredients for Bread Bowls

240 grams Sunnuntai Whole Wheat Flour
51 grams Myllyn Paras Rye Flour
14 grams Yeast
1 1/2 tsp Salt, Table
0.33 tbsp Cocoa, Dry Powder, Unsweetened
1 cup (8 fl oz) Water
2.66 tbsp Molasses
6 tsp 100% Pure Canola Oil

Recipe Directions for Bread Bowls

  1. In a small bowl, combine yeast with 1/4 cup of water and 2 tsp of molasses. Set aside for 10 mins.

  2. In a mixing bowl, flour, salt and cocoa.

  3. Heat remaining water, molasses and oil to 120 degrees F-130 degrees F. Add to dry ingredients; beat until smooth.

  4. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

  5. Divide the dough into four portions; shape each into a ball. Place on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 20 minutes.

  6. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. Cut the top fourth off each roll; carefully hollow out bottom, leaving a 1/4-in. shell (discard removed bread or save for another use).

  8. Fill each bowl with about 1/2 cup chili or soup. Serve bread tops on the side if desired.
