Recipe Ingredients for Braised Pork Chops With Sauerkraut and Apple

8 oz sake
4 chop, excluding refuse (yield from 1 raw chop, with refuse, weighing 151 g) Pork, Fresh, Loin, Center Loin (Chops), Bone-in
16 oz Sauerkraut
1 medium apple Apples
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions

Recipe Directions for Braised Pork Chops With Sauerkraut and Apple

  1. Heat 1 tb olive oil in French oven over med high heat.

  2. Brown the chops on both sides and remove (about 3 min per side).

  3. Add a medium chopped onion and a medium chopped tart apple and saute for about 5 minutes until onion browns a little.

  4. Deglaze wtih 1 cup of white wine or sake, cooking another 3 minutes.

  5. Stir in sauerkraut, place chops on top, cover and reduce heat to low.

  6. Cook about 7 minutes depending on thickness of chops.

  7. Serve with boiled red potatoes.
