Braised Chicken Thighs Recipe

Recipe Ingredients for Braised chicken thighs

1 tbsp canola oil
20 oz chicken thighs(about 5)
1 cup mushrooms (chopped)
1 tbsp butter
30 cloves garlic
3/4 cup red wine
2 cups chicken stock
5 oz baby spinach

Recipe Directions for Braised chicken thighs

  1. Blanch garlic(bring to a boil in water 3 times and drain -- this will remove the harshness of the garlic flavor)

  2. Add oil to Dutch oven and sear thighs over med-high heat

  3. When skin is crispy, remove thighs from pan

  4. Add mushrooms and butter and stir, deglazing as much as you can.

  5. Season with a little sea salt and cook until they begin to soften

  6. Add wine and finish deglazing

  7. When the wine is reduced by half, add the garlic

  8. Stir and let cook until the ingredients are well acquainted

  9. Add thighs back into pan skin side up and add in enough chicken stock to cover the thighs by 3/4 leaving the skins exposed

  10. Bring to a simmer then cook in a 400 degree oven for about an hour

  11. Remove the thighs and put the dutch oven back on the burner at medium high until the sauce reduces by about 3/4 or coats the back of a spoon

  12. Add spinach and let it wilt

  13. Serve with rice
