Recipe Ingredients for Bolognese Sauce

28 oz chopped tomatoes, canned with juices
1 tbs worcestershire sauce
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
1 tsp splenda
1 tbs olive oil
2 tbs tomato paste
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 cup carrot, grated
2 cups celery, finely chopped
2 oz parmesan, grated
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 cup red wine
16 oz lean ground beef, 95%
8 oz mushroom, sliced
1 tsp paprika, sweet
16 oz whole wheat pasta

Recipe Directions for Bolognese Sauce

heat olive oil, add onion and garlic and soften for about 10mins, add celery and carrot and paprika and cook for a further 10mins,add ground beef and brown, add red wine and reduce by half, season with salt and pepper and worcestershire and vinegar, add tomatoes and paste with splenda. Turn heat low and simmer for 2-4hrs allowing flavours to develop. I sometimes do this in a low oven. Cook pasta. 20mins before serving add mushrooms to sauce and just before serving add parmesan cheese to sauce. Serve over pasta with green salad. Great next day served over baked potatoes with some cheddar on top.
