Recipe Ingredients for Blackthorne's Cream Cheese Danish Experiment

2 cups white whole wheat flour
1/8 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup Promise Fat Free Buttery Spread
1/3 cup egg beaters
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup light soy milk, warmed (98°F)
1/8 cup water, warmed (110°F)
12 ounces fat free cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup egg beaters
3/4 cup sugar
1 cooking spray (butter flavored is best)

Recipe Directions for Blackthorne's Cream Cheese Danish Experiment

  1. Sift flour and 1/8 cup sugar together. Cut in Promise, set aside.

  2. Dissolve yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar, and warmed water. When yeast has dissolved, add to warm milk.

  3. To yeast mixture, add 1/3 cup egg beaters.

  4. Pour into flour mixture and mix until dough is smooth.

  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or at least 8 hours.

  6. Next day, prepare the filling. Cream together fat free cream cheese, vanilla, egg beaters, and sugar.

  7. Preheat oven to 325°F, and spray baking sheets with cooking spray.

  8. Divide dough into 3 or 4 parts, rolling them into even ovals one at a time on floured surface.

  9. Divide cream cheese filling evenly among the dough ovals. Spread filling on each portion of the dough, leaving one inch uncovered around the perimeters.

  10. Roll up jelly-roll fashion. Do not seal seam.

  11. Transfer carefully to sprayed cooking sheets, keeping seam facing up. Pinch end of rolls shut.

  12. Let rise one hour, uncovered.

  13. Bake at 325°F for 25-30 minutes.
