Recipe Ingredients for Black Eyed Peas Masala

2 medium Onions
2 medium whole (2-3/5" dia) Tomatoes, Red, Ripe
1 1/2 cup Blackeye Peas
1 tsp Cinnamon, Ground
1 tsp Spices Ground Coriander
1 teaspoon Chilli Powder
9 grams Indian Spices Garam Masala
1/2 tsp Sea Salt
10 grams Extra Light Olive Oil

Recipe Directions for Black Eyed Peas Masala

  1. The peas are soaked overnight and steamed for 3 whistles.

  2. The base with onion paste, ground spices and masalas are tossed in a pan till the onion paste turns golden brown. Then tomato paste/puree is added and cooked for 3-5 minutes.

  3. Peas are added and cooked for 5 min on medium.

  4. Water or yogurt can be added with lemon juice to improve consistency.
