Recipe Ingredients for Black Beans - Gumbo Shop style

32 oz Beans, Black, Mature Seeds
4 cup (8 fl oz) Water
2 leaves Bay Leaves
4 tbsp Olive Oil
3 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
2 medium raw Bell Pepper Red
2 medium raw Bell Pepper Green
2 pepper Peppers, Jalapeno
2 tsp Pepper, White
2 tsp Pepper, Black
1 tsp Cumin
1 tsp Oregano, Ground
8 clove Garlic
4 serving Balsamic Vinegar
1 tsp Sauce, Ready-to-serve, Pepper, Tabasco
4 tsp Salt, Table

Recipe Directions for Black Beans - Gumbo Shop style

  1. Rinse and clean 2lbs black beans; soak in water for 8 hours or overnight.

  2. Finely chop onions and bell peppers, seeded jalapeno peppers and mince garlic. Add vegetables to olive oil in a skillet, and cook until soft.

  3. Place beans and water in slow cooker, add sauteed vegetables, white pepper, black pepper, bay leaves, cumin and oregano. Cook until beans are soft.

  4. Finish with salt, Tabasco and balsamic vinegar.

  5. Serves approximately 12, 1-cup servings.
