Recipe Ingredients for Black Bean and Red Onion Burgers

2 cups black beans
1 egg
1/3 cup red onion, minced
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/3 cup dry bread crumbs
3 rolls, hamburger

Recipe Directions for Black Bean and Red Onion Burgers

  1. Place the beans in a medium sized bowl and mash about two thirds of them with a fork. Stir in the egg, chili powder, and bread crumbs. Cover and chill for 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.

  2. Form the burger mixture into 3 patties. Cook in a lightly oiled frying pan until golden brown on each side and piping hot throughout, at least 10 minutes total.
