A basic recipe for black bean burgers. Add whatever sort of seasonings you like (I used cumin, chili powder, garlic, cilantro and hot sauce)

Recipe Ingredients for Black Bean Burgers

0.33 cup dry Dried Black Beans
0.25 slice, medium (1/8" thick) Onions
0.5 large Egg, Whole
0.33 cup Rolled Oats
2 cracker, rectangle Crackers, Saltines

Recipe Directions for Black Bean Burgers

  1. soak black beans overnight, drain.

  2. boil a pot of water, add beans and turn down heat. Simmer gently for two hours.

  3. drain beans and mash. add finely chopped onion, egg and just enough oats to soak up any excess moisture.

  4. Shape into patties and let rest in fridge until mixture firms up.

  5. Crush crackers and lightly coat patties with them.

  6. Cook in frying pan over medium heat until browned and heated through
