Makes 6 3/10 servings

Granola made with all-natural ingredients. Calorie-dense with lots of good fats and nutrients. Each serving is 1 cup.

Recipe Ingredients for BJ's Granola

2 cups rolled oats
1 cup dry roasted peanuts
1/2 cup blanched almonds
1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup raw honey
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup wheat bran
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Recipe Directions for BJ's Granola

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl, keeping aside the cranberries and raisins.

  2. Measure the oil in a half cup measure, swirling the oil around to coat the sides. Pour into a microwaveable container. Measure the honey with the oil-coated cup - the oil will help the honey come out easier. Microwave the oil & honey for about 30 seconds or so until it liquifies and then add 1 tsp vanilla if desire - stir well. Warming it first helps the mix absorb more evenly into the dry ingredients.

  3. Stir the warm liquid into the dry mix until all well coated. Pour into a jelly roll pan or even a casserole dish - something big and flat with sides. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes or so. A metal pan gets crispier granola in my experience.

  4. Remove the pan and pour the hot granola back into the bowl. Allow it to cool for a minute or so and then stir in the raisins and cranberries. Let it cool even further - it will get crisp as it cools. This stores pretty well when sealed in a container or zip-top bag, supposedly for a couple months but one batch only lasts me a week so I can't say for sure :)
