A lower fat, lower sugar, higher fiber version of a cinnamon bun. Quick and easy to make.

Recipe Ingredients for Better For You Cinnamon Breakfast Rolls

1 1/2 cups flour, whole wheat
1/2 cup flour, all purpose
1/2 cup oatmeal
2 tbsp flax seed, ground
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp Splenda
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp raisins
1 pkg yeast, instant
1/4 cup margarine, cold
1 cup milk, skim
1 tbsp margarine
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp applesauce
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Recipe Directions for Better For You Cinnamon Breakfast Rolls

  1. Grind oatmeal in a food processor to make flour.

  2. Combine flours, oatmeal, flax, baking powder, salt, splenda and cinnamon in a bowl.

  3. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles course crumbs.

  4. Stir in raisins and yeast.

  5. Warm milk and add to the flour mixture.

  6. Stir to combine. Knead dough on a lightly floured board until it forms a soft dough.

  7. Roll dough out to a 12" x 6" rectangle.

  8. Spread dough with 1 tbsp of margarine & the applesauce leaving 1 " uncovered along the long side.

  9. Sprinkle with brown sugar & cinnamon.

  10. Roll up jelly roll style and pinch to seal.

  11. Slice into 12-1" slices.

  12. Spray a 12 cup muffin tin with pan release and place one slice in each cup.

  13. Cover lightly and leave to rise in a warm place for 40 minutes.

  14. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and bake buns for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
