leave out flax seed (healthy but lots of calories) 1/2 cup canola oil instead of 2/3 cup olive oil 4 cups of oats instead of 2 cups oats and 1 cup whole-wheat flour 1/2 cup of brown sugar instead of a whole cup cuts out about 65 calories per serving

4 cups oats
1 cup walnuts
2 cups unsweetened applesauce
2 eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup canola oil
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder

Recipe Directions for better version: applesauce whole grain muffins

  1. grind oats in a food processor

  2. mix all dry ingredients in a bowl

  3. stir in wet ingredients

  4. spray muffin tins with nonstick cooking spray

  5. divide the mix evenly into muffin tins (should get 24 muffins)

  6. bake @ 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes
