To make them less unhealthy...You can cut the sugar by up to half if you prefer them less sweet. Or use a sugar substitute. You can also replace the remaining butter in the batter with applesauce. (I haven't tried the adjusted versions yet) Or leave out the frosting. They're very velvety and rich, they melt in your mouth...

Recipe Ingredients for The Best Brownies Ever!


Brownies:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup applesauce
4 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups sugar
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder

Frosting:
6 tbsp butter
6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
2 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp honey
1 cup powdered sugar

Recipe Directions for The Best Brownies Ever!

  1. Preheat oven to 350

  2. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan

  3. Melt 1/2 cup butter in bowl or pan

  4. Add 1/2 cup applesauce

  5. Whisk in 4 eggs, 2 tsp vanilla, 1 or 2 cups sugar, 2/3 cups unsweetened cocoa, salt, baking powder and 1 cup flour. Spread in pan and bake for 25-30 mins. Do not overbake!

  6. For Frosting melt 6 tbsp butter

  7. whisk in 2 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp vanilla, 6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1 cup powdered sugar.

  8. Frosting will look like a big clumpy ball.

  9. Let brownies cool a bit, but frost while still nice & warm. Slowly spread frosting with spatula, it will melt into a nice smooth glaze. Cut after they cool down.
