Sliced cooked apple layered with blackberry compote and topped with a 50/50 oat/flour crumble

Recipe Ingredients for Berry Apple Crumble

2 tbsp oats
2 tbsp plain flour
50 g butter
1 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 tbsp caster sugar
1 apple
300 g blackberries
1 tbsp golden syrup

Recipe Directions for Berry Apple Crumble

  1. Heat blackberries in a saucepan with a squeeze of lemon juice and 1/2 - 1 tbsp caster sugar until reduced to a thick liquid.

  2. On a hob or in the microwave,cook apples with a sprinkling of the brown sugar and a few mls of water (2-3 min in microwave).

  3. Crumble the flour, oats, bicarb, sugar and butter together.

  4. Layer up with apples on the bottom and crumble topping and drizle with golden syrup/sugar to caramelised under the grill
