Recipe Ingredients for Beer-Glazed Black Beans

2 T extra-virgin olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 T garlic, minced
1 cup beer
3 cups black beans, cooked or canned, drained but still moist
1 T chili powder
1 T honey
1 salt, to taste
1 pepper, to taste

Recipe Directions for Beer-Glazed Black Beans

  1. Put the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft, about 5 mins. Add the garlic, cook for one more minute, then add the remaining ingredients with a good sprinkling of salt and pepper.

  2. Bring to a steady bubble and cook until the liquid is slightly reduced and thickened, about 15 mins. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve hot or refrigerate for up to 3 days and then reheat.
