Recipe Ingredients for Beer Bread

2 cups whole grain flour
1 cup white flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
12 oz. beer
1/2 cup chopped black olives
1 1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
1/2 teaspoon marjoram

Recipe Directions for Beer Bread

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Chop up your olives into rings or half rings - you don't want the bits too small.

  2. 2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, herbs, and olives, making sure to break up any clumps of brown sugar. Add in the beer and mix everything together thoroughly. Your dough should be sticky but thick and cohesive; if it's liquidy, add flour in a tablespoon at a time - do the same with water if it's too dry and crumbly.

  3. 3. Spray your bread pan with olive oil and spoon in your bread dough. Top with a coating of melted vegan butter and put the bread in the oven for 55 minutes. Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack or cutting board to cool for another 5 minutes. Slice into thick pieces - you should be able to get about 10 slices out of this bread. Serve and enjoy!
