Recipe Ingredients for Beef Stew

2 pounds stew beef, lean
2 large onions, diced
4 celery stalks, chopped
4 carrots, chopped
4 medium potatoes, diced
8 cups water
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup flour

Recipe Directions for Beef Stew

  1. Brown beef in 6-8 quart pressure cooker or fry pan sprayed with cooking release spray if using slow cooker.

  2. Add remaining ingredients (except flour).

  3. For pressure cooker, cook for 15 minutes after weight jiggles and heat is lowered to medium.

  4. Or, cook in slow cooker on medium until vegetables are tender.

  5. Prior to serving or freezing, thicken stew with flour mixed into 1/2 cup water.
