Flavorful stew that's easy to make. Just throw everything in the crock pot and let it cook! Adjust or add spices and seasonings to fit your tastes.

Recipe Ingredients for Beef Stew

1 1/2 pounds lean beef
15 2/5 ounces diced tomatoes (82687), drained
6 ounces tomato sauce
8 ounces carrots
12 ounces fresh mushrooms (11260)
2 onions
2 large turnips
1/2 cup beef stock
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Recipe Directions for Beef Stew

Trim fat from beef as necessary and cut into 2-inch pieces. Peel sweet potatoes and cut them and all other vegetables into 2-inch chunks. (To save a little time, use baby carrots instead of regular carrots! :) ) Mix all ingredients together. Cook in slow cooker for 8 hours on low or until meat is cooked through and vegetables are tender. Thicken with cornstarch if necessary.
