This went over well with my family even without buns!

Recipe Ingredients for Beef and Spinach Patties

16 oz hamburger meat
3 tbsp butter
1 clove garlic
1 egg
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup frozen spinach, thawed and well drained
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper, coarsely ground
1 chopped parsley for garnish

Recipe Directions for Beef and Spinach Patties

  1. Saute onion in 2 tbsp butter in large frying pan, until soft and lightly browned. Remove from heat and add garlic.

  2. Beat egg in a medium bowl. Blend in onion mixture, ground beef, spinach, 2 tbsp beef broth, salt and pepper. Shape into 4 oval patties, each about 1 inch thick.

  3. Add 1 tbsp butter to same pan in which onions were cooked. Place patties in pan and brown over moderately high heat, about 4 minutes on each side (this was not well done enough for me, but my patties were a bit thicker), turning once. Remove patties to a warm platter to keep them warm.

  4. Add remaining 6 tbsp of broth to pan. Cook, stirring to mix in pan drippings. Boil for about 30 seconds and pour over patties. Sprinkle with parsley. (I did not do the parsley thing)

  5. Makes 4 servings

  6. My kids and I added a slice of cheese over it, but it would have been fine without that, kinda like a single serving meatloaf! I did have mine with ketchup too!
