Can be served with Italian spices, or perhaps Mexican with cumin, chili powder, etc. Takes about 2 hours: 30 minutes to chop veg and do the layers, and 1.5 hours to bake.

Recipe Ingredients for Beef - Six Layer Dinner

500 grams 85% lean ground beef
500 grams potatoes (thinly sliced)
250 grams carrots (thinly sliced)
1/2 cup rice
2 medium onions (thinly sliced)
800 grams diced tomatoes (2 cans? or maybe just 1)
1 teaspoon minced garlic (2 cloves)
1 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried basil

Recipe Directions for Beef - Six Layer Dinner

Spray casserole pan with non-stick spray. Mix garlic and half the herbs into meat and layer meat on bottom. Add a layer of thinly sliced potatoes followed by a layer of thinly sliced carrots. Then sprinkle on 1/2 cup rice. To this add a layer of thinly sliced onions. Mix remaining herbs into tomatoes and pour over casserole. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1.5 hours -- keep the lid on the casserole dish at all times.
