Filipino classic, using potatoes and cabbage. can use variety of vegetables instead of potatoes and cabbage, including spinach, green beans, etc.

Recipe Ingredients for beef sinigang

13 cups water
1 1/4 pounds stew beef
1 cup cherry tomatoes
1/2 medium onion
1/2 cup chopped green onion
3 cups green beans
2 garlic cloves
3/4 pound fingerling potatoes
3 packets beef bouillon (sinigang flavoring)

Recipe Directions for beef sinigang

  1. brown stew beef in large pot

  2. add chopped garlic and onion, saute

  3. add sinigang flavor packet (not actually beef bouillon)

  4. stir and cook for a few minutes

  5. add tomatoes and water

  6. bring to boil

  7. add cabbage and potatoes, and cook for about an hour

  8. best eaten the next day, served with rice and fish sauce.
