Recipe Ingredients for Beef Ragu (Bolognaise)

1 kg lean ground beef
1 bell pepper
1 large onion
2 medium carrots
250 grams mushrooms
3 cloves garlic
1 cup tomato paste
1 cup beef stock
2 cups red wine
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp fresh basil

Recipe Directions for Beef Ragu (Bolognaise)

  1. Brown beef in olive oil in large pan.

  2. Remove beef.

  3. Cook onions over low heat for 3 minutes.

  4. Add garlic and cook 2 minutes.

  5. Add carrot and bell pepper and cook, stirring for 5 minutes.

  6. Return beef to pan with remaining ingredients.

  7. Stir and return to low simmer.

  8. Cook covered for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.

  9. Stir in chopped basil.

  10. Serve with pasta and salad.
