Form of lasagna, but noodles instead of sheets.

Recipe Ingredients for Beef Noodle Casserole

175 g (6oz) noodles
675 g (1.5lb) raw minced beef
2 onions, peeled and chopped
2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
2 teaspoons cornflour
425 g (15oz) canned tomatos
150 ml (0.25 pint) beef stock
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 freshly ground black pepper
25 g (1oz) butter
25 g (1oz) flour
300 ml (0.5 pint) milk
40 g (1.5oz) mature cheddar cheese, grated

Recipe Directions for Beef Noodle Casserole

  1. Cook the noodles in boiling salted water for 6-7 minutes until partly cooked, then drain.

  2. Cook the minced beef gently in a pan with no extra fat until browned, stirring frequently. Next, add the onions and garlic and continue cooking for a further 3-4 minutes.

  3. Blend the cornflour with some of the juice from the tomatos, then stir in to the beef with the tomatos, stock, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, tomato puree. oregano, salt and pepper. Proceed to bring the mixture to the boil and cook for 2 minutes.

  4. Next, put half of the noodles in the base of a casserole dish, cover with the meat mixture and add the rest of the noodles on top.

  5. Melt the butter in a pan, stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Then, gradually add the milk and bring to the boil for 1 minute. Add salt and pepper and pour over the noodles.

  6. Finally, sprinkle the cheese over the top, cover and cook in a pre-heated over for 15 minutes, then uncover and continue to cook for a further 10-15 minutes or until the topping is brown and crispy.

  7. Super finally, sit and enjoy!!
