Recipe Ingredients for Beef with mushrooms and red wine

1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb chuck steak (1 inch thick), trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
12 oz mushrooms, cleaned and quartered
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tbsp tomato paste
3 tbsp all purpose flour
1 lb pearl onions, frozen
1 1/2 cups beef broth
3/4 cup dry red wine
3/4 tsp dried thyme
12 oz green beans, trimmed

Recipe Directions for Beef with mushrooms and red wine

  1. Brown steak pieces in skillet with oil over medium-high heat. Transfer beef to slow cooker.

  2. Add mushrooms and garlic to skillet and sprinkle with 1/4 tsp each salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally about 5 minutes. Stir in tomato paste and cook for another 2 minutes. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly about a minute.

  3. Scrape contents of skillet into slow cooker. Stir in onions, broth, red wine adn 1/2 tsp thyme. Cover and cook on High 5 hours or low for 7 hours.

  4. Remove lid and stir in remaining 1/4 tsp each salt and pepper, 1/4 tsp thyme, and green beans. Cover and cook additional 30 minutes. Serve on top of egg noodles.
