Recipe Ingredients for Beef and Mushroom casserole

100 grams Tender Beef Chuck Steak
1 slice, medium (1/8" thick) Onions
4 oz Mushrooms
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 oz Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
1 Teaspoon Bovril
1 clove Garlic

Recipe Directions for Beef and Mushroom casserole

  1. Dice the steak, removing all visible fat.

  2. Chop onions and mushrooms and squash the garlic.

  3. heat the olive oil in a heavy pan and gently fry the onion and garlic until soft. Add the mushrooms and cook for a further 3 -5 minutes.

  4. Turn up the heat a little and add the chuck steak, frying until brown all over. Remove the mixture with a slotted spoon and place into an ovenproof casserole dish.

  5. Add the flour to the pan and cook gently for 1 -2 minutes. Add sufficient water to make a thin gravy, then add the bovril. Pour the gravy over the meat mixture and bake in a moderate over (180o) for about 11/2 hours, or until the meat is tender.

  6. Serve with a small Jacket potatoe and a green vegetable.
