Long cooked beef stew with wine, served over egg noodles

Recipe Ingredients for Beef Burgundy

1 1/4 lbs stew beef
2 cups canned beef stock, low sodium
3 cups beef stock, no sodium
2 large onions
4 tblsp unsalted butter
1 cup red wine
1 cup carrots, sliced
4 cups egg noodles

Recipe Directions for Beef Burgundy

  1. brown beef in 2 T butter

  2. add onions and cook until tender

  3. deglaze pan with 1 cup beef stock

  4. add 1/2 c red wine

  5. add 2 cups beef stock

  6. bring to boil

  7. lower temperature to a simmer

  8. simmer for 2 1/2 hours, adding additional stock and wine as needed

  9. add sliced carrots

  10. simmer until carrots are crisp tender

  11. add salt and pepper to taste

  12. serve over egg noodles
