Recipe Ingredients for Beef and Bowties

3 oz pasta, whole wheat
6 oz extra lean ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 zucchini, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, stemmed, seeded and chopped
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2 tsp basil
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp parsley, chopped

Recipe Directions for Beef and Bowties

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the pasta and cook until al dente, about 10 min.. Drain

  2. Combine the beef and onion in a large skillet over medium high heat. Cook until the beef is browned, stirring constantly, about 8 min.. Add the garlic, zucchini, red pepper and mushrooms and cook stirring occasionally, until the vegetables have softened, about 8 min.

  3. Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, salt and pepper and simmer about 5 min.. Stir in the pasta and parsely and serve.
