Beef in Beer "Pie" with mustard bread topping

Recipe Ingredients for Beef in Beer

1 large onions, diced
1 large courgettes, sliced
3 large carrots, diced
3 medium potatoes, diced
14 1/5 oz , Stewing Beef
1 pint Ale
120 g red wine
2 tbsp , Wholegrain Mustard
3 slices white bread
1 cup stock
1 tbsp , Butter
1 tsp Sea Salt
1 tsp Black Pepper
1 tbsp , Olive Oil

Recipe Directions for Beef in Beer

  1. Place large Le Crueset (any large oven safe dish with lid is fine) on hob on medium heat with splash of olive oil

  2. Braise the Beef with pinch of flour until beef is brown on outside

  3. Add the Onions and cook for 5-10mins

  4. Add the Beer and bring to boil (can add flour here to thicken)

  5. Add the Carrots, Potatoes and Courgettes

  6. Add the red wine, salt and pepper (add stock now if need more liquid)

  7. Place in oven on 160 degrees for 1hr 30mins (can leave longer, max 2hr 30mins)

  8. Take out and decant into pyrex dishes (or any oven safe pie dish)

  9. Butter the Bread and then spread wholegrain mustard over the bread

  10. Cut into triangles and place over the top of your stew in the pyrex dish

  11. Back in the oven for 35mins or until bread is crispy

  12. Leave to stand for 5 mins and serve
