Recipe Ingredients for Bechemel White Sauce (Alternative 2)

3 cups 2% low-fat milk
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Recipe Directions for Bechemel White Sauce (Alternative 2)

  1. Heat milk in a microwave for 2 - 3 minutes

  2. Melt butter in a sauce pan

  3. Add salt

  4. Add flour and stir to make a roux

  5. Slowly add heated milk until it boils

  6. Lower heat to simmer and continue stirring for 8 minutes or so

  7. When sauce thickens remove from heat and add pepper and nutmeg
