The use of bacon fat to cook the beans and cabbage adds a delightful flavor

Recipe Ingredients for Beans and Cabbage

2 lb cabbage
3 ounces bacon
12 ounces black beans
12 ounces white beans
12 ounces onions
12 ounce red peppers
2 ounces garlic

Recipe Directions for Beans and Cabbage

  1. Note: Feel free to add in any additional spices, in general salt isn't required due to the bacon.

  2. 1.) First cook the bacon until crisp, draining off the excess fat for cooking the vegetables

  3. 2.) saute the onions, garlic and till translucent, add in the pepper and bring that to a tender state.

  4. 3.) Pull the peppers and onions out, cook the cabbage until "limp".

  5. 4.) Add in the cooked beans and cook until they have absorbed the moisture...
