Recipe Ingredients for BBQ tempeh and peppers

8 ounces tempeh
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 cups onion, chopped
1 clove garlic
1 red bell pepper
1 tbsp. soy sauce
3 tbsp. tomato paste
1 tbsp. brown sugar
2/3 cup water
1 tbsp. coriander, ground
1 1/2 tsp. ground fennel

Recipe Directions for BBQ tempeh and peppers

  1. Heat 2 tbsp. of the oil in a heavy skillet and saute the chopped onions for 3 to 4 minutes, until they being to soften.

  2. Mince the garlic and chop the pepper, add to the skillet and cook another 5 minutes, stirring often.

  3. Cube the tempeh, add it to the skillet, and saute for about 5 minutes until it begins to brown. If necessary, add a little more oil to the pan to prevent sticking.

  4. While the tempeh browns, mix the soy sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, and water together in a small bowl and set aside.

  5. Add the coriander and fennel to the skillet and stir constantly for a minute. Pour on the sauce and simmer for about 5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened. Add Tabasco and salt to taste.
