Basil and Mushroom Beef Stroganoff Recipe

Normally, I use dry basil because I don't have fresh on hand, but would love to try this with fresh basil.

Recipe Ingredients for Basil and Mushroom Beef Stroganoff

6 cups egg noodles
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
8 fl oz milk 1%
2 tbsp sour cream
24 oz steak , strips or 2 round steaks (8 oz each), strips
2 cups white mushrooms, sliced
3 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp dried basil or fresh basil, minced

Recipe Directions for Basil and Mushroom Beef Stroganoff

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet.

  2. Saute on med-high heat mushrooms and basil until mushrooms just begin to brown and caramelize. Remove from pan and set aside.

  3. Sear and brown steak strips, but do not over cook.

  4. Add mushrooms and basil back in with the steak and cook until mushrooms have finished caramelizing.

  5. Lower heat to med-low and add cream of mushroom soup and milk. Mix until creamy and smooth. Heat sauce until just starting to simmer.

  6. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream - add more or less sour cream to taste.

  7. Pour sauce over egg noodles, toss to coat, and serve.
