This recipe can be changed in a hundred different ways to create many types of scones.

Recipe Ingredients for Basic Scone

3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tblsp baking powder
6 oz butter
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 egg
3/4 c whipping cream

Recipe Directions for Basic Scone

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Cut together butter, flour, salt and baking powder with a pastry blender until like small peas. Add sugar and the other ingredients needed to make whatever flavor of scone you are making. Stir well. Make well in center of the mixture. Mix egg and milk together and add to flour stiring until mixed well. Turn out onto a wooden cutting board. Pat out using 8 or 4 inch circle as your guide to the size needed. Cut into 8 pieces. Place on baking pan. Brush with a beaten egg. Bake 25 to 27 min.
