Recipe Ingredients for Basic Marinara Sauce with Fresh Herbs

2 t garlic, minced
28 oz tomatoes, crushed
15 oz tomato sauce
4 t oregano, fresh, chopped, more to taste
4 t basil, fresh, chopped, more to taste
4 t Italian parsley, fresh, chopped, more to taste

Recipe Directions for Basic Marinara Sauce with Fresh Herbs

  1. Spray medium saucepan with nonstick spray; heat.

  2. Add garlic. Cook over medium heat, stirring constatnly until transparent and golden but not burned.

  3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and herbs. Bring to a boil; reduce heat; let simmer until thickened and flavors are blended, about 15 minutes.

  4. Add a pinch of sugar; let cook for 5 minutes longer.
