Rich and creamy Gelato, a great base for whatever flavor you love.

Recipe Ingredients for Basic Gelato

2 cups whole milk
1 cup sugar
6 egg yolks
1/2 cup milk powder
1 cup fat free half and half
1 tsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Basic Gelato

In a heavy sauce pan bring Milk, Sugar and milk powder to a simmer. Meanwhile, whip egg yolks until thick, light yellow and double in volume. Once hot milk comes to a simmer turn off heat, SLOWLY add one cup of hot milk to eggs while you continuously whisk. Once thats in add yolk mixture to pan and heat until it thickens and reaches a temp between 170 and 180. Remove from heat and add half and half and vanilla. Cool at least 8 hours before adding it to your ice cream maker.
