Recipe Ingredients for Basic Cholent

4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
1 pound Bone-In Beef Stew Meat
1 cup barley
1 1/2 cup dried white beans
1 large onion, quartered
1 packet onion soup mix
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. pepper
1 tbsp. paprika
1 tbsp. garlic powder

Recipe Directions for Basic Cholent

Place beef and potatoes in the bottom of a 6-qt crock pot. Alternate layers of beans and barley, adding onion soup mix and spices between layers. Add ketchup to top and water to cover. Cook on high for 1-2 hours, then turn to low and cook overnight or until ready to serve.
