this is a basic but really good bread recipe that I use in my oster bread machine. IMPORTANT!! You must add the ingredients in the exact order they are listed and DO NOT let the yeast come into contact with the liquid.

Recipe Ingredients for basic bread machine bread

1 3/8 cups water
2 tablespoons margarine, softened
4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons dry milk
1 3/4 teaspoons salt
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast, active dry

Recipe Directions for basic bread machine bread

  1. Measure out 1 3/8 cups of room tempurature water.

  2. add to bread pan

  3. measure out 2 tablespoons of margarine

  4. add to bread pan

  5. measure out 4 cups of bread flour

  6. add to bread pan

  7. measure 2 tablespoons of sugar

  8. add to bread pan

  9. measure out 2 tablespoons of dry milk

  10. add to bread pan

  11. measure out 1 3/4 teaspoons of salt

  12. add to bread pan

  13. IMPORTANT, use finger to form well in the flour where you will pour the yeast.

  14. measure out 2 1/4 teaspoons of dry active yeast

  15. carefully pour into well in flour

  16. snap bread pan into machine

  17. select medium crust color

  18. press start

  19. bread will be done in 3 hours
