Can be used also for making pizza! This is credited to my Italian cooking teacher.

Recipe Ingredients for Basic Bread Dough

300 g whole wheat flour
20 g yeast
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Recipe Directions for Basic Bread Dough

  1. Melt the yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.

  2. Mix salt into flour and put on working surface and make a large well in the middle.

  3. In the well, add water/yeast mixture, sugar, and olive oil.

  4. Gradually incorporate the flour into the middle mixture, eventually working it into a ball and knead until all flour has been incorporated and hands are virtually clean. (Add more water/flour if needed)

  5. Cover the dough with a paper towel and let sit for 2 hours until it has doubled in size.

  6. Punch out all the air and knead again. Let it rise for another 30 minutes and repeat, allowing a 3rd rest for 30 minutes (If no time, the 3rd rise may be skipped).

  7. Shape into whatever you would like and bake at 200 degrees C for 35-40 minutes (bread) or 20-25 minutes (pizza)
