To go with Simple Meatballs (must say I sort of stole this from the Barefoot Contessa of FoodNetwork...this is NOT my recipe)

Recipe Ingredients for Barefoot Meg's Spaghetti Sauce

1 yellow onion, minced
1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 cup red wine
28 oz tomatoes
1 tblsp parsley
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tblsp olive oil

Recipe Directions for Barefoot Meg's Spaghetti Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in same pan as meatballs and cook onion till clear (between 5 and 10 minutes).

  2. Add garlic and cook at least one minute longer.

  3. Turn to high heat and immediately add your choice of red wine and deglaze the pan (scrape up meatball bits).

  4. Cook about 3 minutes on high heat (till liquid is almost gone).

  5. Add parsley, tomatoes, and seasoning.

  6. Add browned meatballs to sauce, and simmer, covered, for 25 to 30 minutes.
